Croatian companies seeking capital for growth, acquisitions, and expansion into other markets have another potential investor. The private equity firm CEECAT Capital, based in Luxembourg announced that it has raised 135 million euros in the first closing of its third fund, CEECAT Capital Fund III. What is particularly interesting is that Croatia is explicitly mentioned as one of the main target markets.

Support from EBRD and EIF

The new fund aims to raise a total of 200 million euros, with a maximum size of 250 million euros. The first closing was supported by the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) and the European Investment Fund (EIF), as well as existing investors and new institutional investors and family offices. EBRD will invest up to 40 million euros in the fund, while EIF has also committed to investing a total of 40 million euros.

On the occasion of the announcement of the first closing, Anthony Stalker, a partner at CEECAT Capital, emphasized that their capital will primarily follow companies that have a clear strategy for expansion beyond their home borders.

– Our goal is to support established local companies in fragmented industries and develop them into regional platforms through cross-border consolidation – Stalker stated in a press release published on LinkedIn. According to him, the capital should follow companies that have a credible path to business growth, not just exposure to one national market.

For internationalization and competitiveness

According to currently known information, the fund is expected to provide capital for growth, increased competitiveness, and cross-border expansion. The founders plan to allocate individual ownership stakes ranging from 15 to 20 million euros per company, with approximately 65 percent of transactions expected to be majority acquisitions during the five-year investment period.

The focus of investments will be on sectors with strong structural growth such as fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG), healthcare, B2B services, logistics, and high technology and software.
