Can you remember what you had for breakfast last Tuesday? Probably not. But perhaps you still remember the warm bun you ate on the way to school, the pastries prepared for the big break, or the cup of cocoa your grandmother made for you every morning. Maybe you recall the sandwich before an important match, breakfast on your first trip with friends, or the meal that awaited you after a sleepless night.
We quickly forget everyday meals, but those connected to feelings of safety, belonging, and someone’s attention stay with us for years. Because we rarely remember breakfast just for what we ate. We remember it for the people, the moment, and the feeling that someone was thinking of us.
It is from this idea that the platform First Breakfast emerged, a new socially responsible initiative Mlinar and BOSQAR INVEST aimed at organizations that make a difference in the community through their actions.
In Croatia, numerous associations, organizations, societies, clubs, and informal initiatives operate daily, helping others, bringing the community together, and initiating positive changes. Their efforts often remain out of focus, even though they are the ones who make someone’s everyday life better through their actions. That is why we believe they deserve support and recognition – not just in words, but also in small gestures that can encourage the continuation of their valuable work.
Through the platform, 3,000 breakfasts will be donated this year for nearly 100 different initiatives across Croatia – from volunteer and humanitarian actions to sports events, educational programs, and activities that bring people together around a common goal.
Because many good stories begin with breakfast
This can be breakfast before the morning training of young athletes, before a volunteer environmental cleanup action, or before a trip that children have been eagerly awaiting. A meal can await firefighters after a demanding intervention, association members before an important activity, or emergency service workers at the start of their shift.
