Hrvatska poštanska banka (HPB) has today completed the transaction for the acquisition of Croatia Bank. In a statement published on the Zagreb Stock Exchange, HPB informed the investment public that all prior conditions have been met and that the transaction has been concluded as of September 1, 2026. – The bank has signed the Share Transfer Agreement in its name, thereby concluding the acquisition process of 100 percent of the shares in the equity capital of Croatia Bank by HPB following the transfer of shares at the Central Clearing and Depository Company – the statement reads.

Earlier this week, HPB announced that the European Central Bank (ECB) has no objections to the acquisition of Croatia Bank, thus fulfilling all regulatory requirements for the conclusion of the transaction. It is worth noting that HPB reported in early March that it had signed a contract with the Croatian Deposit Insurance Agency for the purchase of 100 percent of the shares in the equity capital of Croatia Bank for 15 million euros. By acquiring Croatia Bank, HPB will approach a market share of 10 percent in the assets of banks in Croatia.

Croatia Bank is one of the smallest banks in the market. According to statistics from the Croatian National Bank (HNB), at the end of last year, it had assets of 263.8 million euros. In terms of asset share of 0.29 percent, Croatia Bank ranks 17th among the 20 banks operating in the Croatian market. Statistics from the central bank show that this state bank recorded a decrease in assets of nearly 10 percent but operated with a profit of 1.4 million euros.
