The Croatian government has once again intervened in the prices of petroleum products. At the 166th telephone session of the Government, held on May 4, 2026, a new Regulation on determining the maximum retail prices of petroleum products was adopted, whereby the Government, waiving part of the revenue from excise taxes, prevents the rise in fuel prices at gas stations.
According to the new regulation, which comes into effect on the first day of publication and is valid for the following fourteen-day period, the price of gasoline remains unchanged at 1.64 Euros per liter. The price of diesel fuel decreases by six cents to 1.72 Euros per liter, blue diesel by seven cents to 1.22 Euros per liter, and liquefied petroleum gas for tanks decreases by 18 cents to 1.58 Euros per kilogram. LPG for bottles is also reduced by 18 cents to 2.16 Euros per kilogram.
The Government also announced what the prices would be without any intervention. Gasoline would cost 1.79 Euros per liter without measures, diesel as much as 1.93 Euros, and blue diesel 1.29 Euros. LPG for tanks would reach 1.73 Euros per kilogram, and for bottles 2.44 Euros.
Retail prices are calculated according to a formula based on the basic price of fossil fuel in the previous fourteen-day period, with a limited premium of 0.1545 Euros per liter for gasoline, 0.1045 Euros for diesel, and 0.0436 Euros for blue diesel.
