InterCapital officially announced today that its investment banking team acted as the exclusive advisor to Sheriff Group, the leading Croatian wood processing group, in the process of spinning off and selling Sheriff Energetika to the British fund Ancala. Ancala is a leading independent infrastructure manager that significantly strengthens its presence in the Central and Eastern Europe (CEE) region with this acquisition.
Focus on strategic expansion
The subject of the sale was the energy segment of Sheriff Group, which includes three modern plants in Glina, Karlovac, and Brinje, with a total capacity of 14.6 MWe installed power. All three power plants have signed 14-year power purchase agreements (PPA) with HROTE, lasting until September 2031 in Glina, September 2034 in Karlovac, and July 2035 in Brinje.
In addition to the power plants themselves, Sheriff Energetika also owns ancillary facilities that ensure high energy efficiency of the system. This includes wood dryers, a sawmill, a briquette factory, and a wood steaming facility, all of which utilize thermal energy produced in the power plants.
