The company Delta Logistic International, owned by retired generals Ivan Čermak and Ante Gotovina, as well as former Minister of Defense Ante Kotromanović, is the new concessionaire at the Cargo Port of Gaženica in Zadar, confirmed Željko Knežević, director of the Port Authority of Zadar, to Hina on Tuesday.
The new concessionaire was unanimously voted in at the meeting of the Management Board of the Port Authority of Zadar on March 10, said director Knežević.
“Delta Logistic International offered 1.50 euros per square meter of the concession area and 1.5 percent variable on the traffic they will generate, and they announced that the minimum variable amount will be 8.2 million euros,” he stated.
The new concessionaire has committed to investing 30.4 million euros net in the concession area in the first seven years. The contract with the former concessionaires at the Cargo Port of Gaženica, the company Luka Zadar d.d. owned by Chinese owners, was terminated by the Port Authority of Zadar in early November last year.
Delta Terminals, Bibinje, and approval from the Ministry without an impact study
The owners of Delta Logistic International are the company of retired general Ivan Čermak Delta Terminals, Ante Gotovina, and Ante Kotromanović, who is also the director. Čermak’s Delta Terminals already manages terminals for petroleum derivatives and biofuels, terminals for vegetable oils, and terminals for fuel oils at the port of Gaženica. Residents of Bibinje opposed Čermak expanding the purpose of the storage space from vegetable and fuel oils to also include petroleum derivatives and biofuels, but the Ministry of Environment and Green Transition approved these interventions without conducting an environmental impact assessment.
