The value of Croatian goods exports reached 18.5 billion euros in the first nine months of this year, which is 5.5 percent higher than in the same period last year, while imports increased by 4.6 percent to 33.6 billion euros, according to the first data released by the Croatian Bureau of Statistics (DZS) on Friday.
At the same time, the foreign trade deficit amounted to 15.1 billion euros, while the coverage of imports by exports was 55 percent.
According to DZS data, goods worth 12.3 billion euros were exported to EU member states in the first nine months of this year, which is 6.2 percent more compared to the same period last year, while exports to non-EU countries increased by 4.1 percent to 6.2 billion euros.
Imports from EU member states, on the other hand, increased by 2.6 percent year-on-year in the first nine months of this year to 26 billion euros, while imports from non-member states amounted to 7.6 billion euros, with a growth of 12.2 percent.
Imports from Germany increased by 18.2 percent in eight months
DZS also published preliminary data on trade for the first eight months of this year.
Total exports amounted to 16.3 billion euros, which is 4.8 percent higher than in the same period last year, while imports increased by 5.1 percent to 30 billion euros. This revised the initial data for August published on October 9, which stated that the value of Croatian goods exports in the first eight months was 16.2 billion euros or 4.6 percent higher, and imports were 29.3 billion euros or 2.9 percent higher year-on-year.
