Like all students, Antonio Matušan had a modest student budget during his studies in Milan and, like his fellow colleagues, decided to use the Too Good To Go app, which allows him to purchase food at a lower price. Shortly after returning to his homeland, he launched a startup focused on prepared meals, which opened his eyes and showed him how much food is actually wasted.
This insight, entrepreneurial drive, and curiosity prompted him to launch Crumbs, a platform inspired by Too Good To Go, which helps reduce food waste and allows users to purchase surplus items that are not sold in restaurants, bakeries, and other hospitality establishments at significantly lower prices. In a new episode of Lider’s podcast, Matušan shared the story of his innovative business, revealed how he acquired his first customers, as well as users.
He also disclosed how he combats the prejudice that such groceries and meals are not tasty and nutritious, and how he adapts to different target groups that use his app. In this episode, you will also learn why it is so important to work on reducing food waste, what sales and entrepreneurial lessons he has mastered along his journey, what his expansion plans are, and how waste can become a lucrative business.
