In the latest episode of Lider’s podcast, journalist and host Roko Kalafatić welcomed Josipa Maslać-Petričević, the founder of the textile company Naphthalene, and her daughter Matea Pirić, the sales and marketing director at the same company.
Naphthalene is, in fact, one of the few textile companies in Croatia that has survived the decline of the industry and today operates with dozens of large clients, from luxury hotels and banks to cruise ships where their employees sew on-site. In the conversation, they revealed how the company adapted to all crises, from war and bankruptcy to the pandemic, and why they believe that the textile industry in Croatia can indeed make a strong comeback.
However, the episode also covers many more personal topics. What it means to build a business within a family, what Sunday lunches look like, whether the conversation about work ever stops, and how they balance friendship, love, and professional relationships. Josipa openly spoke about her toughest moments, as well as what continues to drive her forward, while Matea revealed what it feels like to inherit such a strong and recognizable entrepreneurial legacy.
They also discussed innovations, the future of their business, and family transition, as well as a completely new venture – expanding into the real estate business.
