Today, the 17th Lider conference Day of Great Plans was held at the Westin hotel in Zagreb, one of the most important business events in Croatia.

Given the current economic and geopolitical circumstances affecting the global economy, the conference featured a wealth of interesting topics and insights. Approximately four hundred participants were able to hear forecasts and predictions for the upcoming year directly from the leaders of the Croatian economy and politics.

The conference commenced after the opening speeches by the editor-in-chief of Lider Miodrag Šajatović and the director-general of the Croatian Employers’ Association Irena Weber, with a presentation by Velibor Mačkić, envoy of the President of the Republic and special advisor for the economy, whose topic was global political-economic risks and their impact on the Republic of Croatia.

Marin Piletić, the Minister of Labor, Pension System, Family, and Social Policy, addressed the issue of labor shortages that have plagued the domestic economy for nearly a decade.

Matej Bule, chief advisor to the Minister of Finance, provided more information on the government’s financial and tax policy for the upcoming year. The perspective beyond Croatia’s borders was presented by economists Chiara Fratto, an economist at the European Investment Bank, and Mauro Giorgio Marrano, a senior economist for the CEE region at the Italian bank UniCredit.

The first panel titled ‘Challenges in 2025 – How to Prepare’ provided participants with useful information for developing and refining business plans in the context of inflation, recession, rising energy prices, increasingly frequent natural disasters, and intense technological advancement. The panel included Ivan Čulo, CEO of Hrvatska pošta, Adrian Ježina, CEO of Telemach, Zsuzsanna Ortutay, CEO of INA, and Michał Seńczuk, CEO of the retail chain Studenac.

In the panel ‘Risk Management and Resilience’, speakers included Mirko Habijanec, CEO of the construction company Radnik, Branko Roglić, founder and chairman of the Supervisory Board of Orbico, Katija Klepo, CEO of AD Plastika, and Boris Žgomba, CEO of Uniline.

A highlight was the interview with Marko Pipunić, the head of Žito, who attracted over 4,000 investors this summer in the largest public offering of shares in Croatia, valued at over 130 million euros. Pipunić discussed with Miodrag Šajatović the plans for the use of funds from the IPO and other current topics.

The conference concluded with the panel ‘Business Development – Opportunities and Risks’, where practical guidelines for entrepreneurs and managers were provided by Ivan Bešlić, founder and CSO of Sofascore IT, Srđan Kovačević, CEO of Orqe, and Iva Rogović Lekić, CEO of the insurance broker GrECo.

Over the past 16 years, the Day of Great Plans has become a hallmark of Lider’s conferences. To date, it has gathered over 5,000 participants and 270 speakers, primarily industry leaders, macroeconomic experts, and leaders from political and public life.

The conference has gained the status of a political-economic ‘must be’ event, and this year it confirmed its status with its program and selection of speakers, primarily leaders from various industries in Croatia, global macroeconomists, representatives of the public sector, and state institutions.
