With deep sorrow, the KTC retail chain from Križevci has today reported that their Deputy Chairman of the Supervisory Board, Mr. Ivica Katavić, has passed away after a serious illness.

– Ivica Katavić was an exceptional leader, colleague, and person whose dedication, knowledge, and vision shaped our organization in numerous ways. His contribution left a deep mark in our community and he will surely be missed by all who had the privilege of working with him – the company stated via social media.

Ivica Katavić was the elder son of KTC founder Ivan Katavić, and he built his career within the family retail chain. Unlike most other chains, KTC is registered as a joint-stock company – a decision made by founder Ivan Katavić back in 2009.

Since then, Ivica and his younger brother Siniša Katavić have alternated in the positions of Chairman and Deputy Chairman of the Supervisory Board every four years.

In addition to his business engagement at KTC, Ivica Katavić was the President of the Trade Association of the Croatian Chamber of Commerce, serving two consecutive terms. He particularly stood out in public as one of the most vocal advocates for limiting store operations on Sundays, years before changes to the Trade Act came into effect.

His business philosophy was based on the belief that corporate success must be linked to social responsibility. He often emphasized the importance of balancing business goals with the lives of employees, and as an advocate for the right to a non-working Sunday, he believed that every family deserves time together.

Besides his presence in business circles, he was also strongly involved in the local community, especially through the KTC Handball Club, of which he was the president and main sponsor for many years.

His passing represents a great loss for his family and colleagues, and the Croatian business community will remember him as one of the most prominent leaders in domestic trade.
