The ‘Creative City of Croatia 2025’ awards were presented in Varaždin as part of the Špancirfest, recognizing local government units and mayors for innovative projects in culture, creative industries, and sustainable development.
The most prestigious award for Creative and Innovative City of the Year was won by Varaždin, thanks to its strategic approach to cultural infrastructure and the internationally recognized Špancirfest.
Among the winners are the City of Čazma for the educational program ‘My Homeland – That’s Me!’, Zabok for the re-GENERATOR project, Drniš for ‘Baštionica’, Zadar for the Youth Center, and Karlovac for Cinema Edison.
Marija Šarić from Pleternica was named the most creative mayor. Special recognitions were awarded to Osijek, Sisak, Zaprešić, Grožnjan, Dubrovnik, and Šibenik.
The event was organized by the Association of Cities and the Imagination Association, and the jury emphasized that the awarded cities become an inspiration to others in Croatia.
