With the new pension adjustment, under which the current value of the pension increases by 6.48 percent, and with the annual supplement and other measures, by the end of the year the total average pension will exceed 700 euros, said Prime Minister Andrej Plenković on Thursday at the beginning of the Government session.

By paying the annual supplement to pensions to retirees in December, along with the new adjustment and other government measures, the average total pension will exceed 700 euros; it is currently 648 euros, while in 2016 it was 357 euros, Plenković stated in his opening speech.

– With the new adjustment, we are moving towards achieving our goal, which is for the average total pension to reach 800 euros by the end of our government’s term – he added.

The Croatian Pension Insurance Institute has decided that from July 1, the current value of the pension will increase by 6.48 percent and now amounts to 14 euros and 45 cents. The increased pensions will be paid in September along with the pension for August, together with the difference for July.

This is the highest adjustment rate since 1999, emphasized Plenković, reminding that from July 1, a new law has been in effect that improved the adjustment formula for retirees from 70 to 30 to 85 to 5, taking into account the consumer price index and wage growth.
