The Private Sector in Croatia Achieved 8.8 Billion Euros in Net Profit

The net profit of Croatian entrepreneurs in 2024 amounted to 9.9 billion euros, with the highest impact coming from private sector entrepreneurs, who achieved 8.8 billion euros in net profit last year, which is 12.4 percent more than the previous year, according to an analysis by the Financial Agency (Fina) on the business operations of entrepreneurs by ownership forms.

Private entrepreneurs, numbering 160,182, with 925,676 employees last year, generated total revenues of 147.6 billion euros, a period profit of 11.2 billion euros, and a period loss of 2.4 billion euros. Compared to 2023, they increased the number of employees by 4.5 percent, total revenues by 7.7 percent, period profit by 10 percent, and period loss by two percent.

– The private sector played the most significant role in the business operations of entrepreneurs in 2024, participating with 98.8 percent of the share in the number of entrepreneurs, 87.1 percent in the number of employees, 87 percent in total revenues, 88.7 percent in period profit, 89.2 percent in period loss, 64.4 percent in gross investments only in new fixed assets, and achieved 88.5 percent of the total net profit of entrepreneurs in Croatia – the analysis states.

Employees of entrepreneurs in the private sector, in 2024, as in previous years, received lower average monthly net salaries than the economy average, 1,138 euros in 2024, which is 2.9 percent less than the average of all entrepreneurs in Croatia (1,171 euros).

Entrepreneurs in state ownership, numbering 863, as stated in the analysis, had 93,289 employees who generated total revenues of 12.2 billion euros, 626.6 million euros in period profit, 103.1 million euros in period loss, and 523.4 million euros in net profit. These entrepreneurs, compared to 2023, increased the number of employees by 0.3 percent, reduced total revenues by 9.7 percent, increased period profit by 62.3 percent, period loss by 0.8 percent, and net profit by 84.5 percent.

Employees in the public sector received an average monthly net salary of 1,355 euros in 2024, which is 15.7 percent higher than the average of all entrepreneurs at the national level (1,171 euros).

Fina’s analysis also shows that mixed ownership entrepreneurs, numbering 281, in 2024 had 42,585 employees, generated total revenues of 9.6 billion euros, a period profit of 795.5 million euros, a period loss of 187.7 million euros, and a net profit of 607.7 million euros.

Compared to 2023, they increased their number of employees by 0.3 percent, total revenues by 7.2 percent, total expenses by seven percent, period profit increased by 10.1 percent, period loss by 13.4 percent, and achieved a higher net profit by 9.1 percent.
