Zagreb’s Hangover Museum Seeks Fair Play from Its Prague Counterpart

The Hangover Museum has reacted to the emergence of a Prague version with a similar name. As they announced to the media today, the Zagreb original, which has been combining entertainment and education about responsible alcohol consumption for over five years, holds the EU trademark ‘MUSEUM OF HANGOVERS (EUTM 018779943)’ and seeks fair play, meaning either an official franchise or a clear distinction of brands to avoid visitor confusion.

– We love that ideas spread, but the audience must know who the original is. We have been building this for years – we only seek brand respect and clarity for visitors. We want a friendly solution: a franchise if we agree, rebranding if we do not – stated the founder and director of the Hangover Museum Rino Duboković.

Namely, an attraction called ‘Hangover Museum’ has appeared in Prague, and the Croatian Hangover Museum now claims that the concepts are not identical, but the similarity in names and overlapping services, they assert, can confuse the audience and the media. Therefore, they add, it is their duty to protect the identity and distinctiveness of the brand, but their first choice remains collaboration.

– In recent weeks, we have been receiving messages from visitors indicating that the similarity in names creates expectations that the Zagreb and Prague locations are connected and that there is a ‘combined’ discount. Such inquiries confirm real confusion and further justify our call for fair play: either an official franchise with clear standards (Museum of Hangovers | Prague), or a clear distinction of brands – stated the Hangover Museum.

As they add, their first choice is not the courtroom but collaboration, and they see Prague as a natural step through the official franchise ‘Museum of Hangovers | Prague’ – with clear standards of content, experience, and safety. If that is not an option, a friendly rebranding of the Prague location would eliminate confusion and respect the audience.

Let us remind you, the Hangover Museum was launched by students in 2019 in Zagreb with a simple, human premise: to tell funny, embarrassing, and educational stories about nightlife while advocating for responsibility and safety. Visitors remember them for their interactive exhibits, simulators, and real stories shared ‘from mouth to mouth’ and through the media.
