Trump Media & Technology Group (TMTG) is advancing with plans to launch a bitcoin ETF named Truth Social Bitcoin ETF, according to a filing with the SEC on June 3.

NYSE Group Inc. has submitted regulatory documentation for the product listing, using the name of U.S. President Donald Trump’s social media platform.

The ETF is being developed through a partnership with Yorkville Advisors, a New Jersey-based firm that Trump Media describes as an ‘America-First’ asset management company.

Another Spot Bitcoin ETF

Foris DAX Trust Company will serve as the custodian of the digital assets, the filing states, which does not mention the ticker or fees for the new fund. Trump Media has previously filed for trademarks related to bitcoin investment products that align with the president’s political priorities.

The spot bitcoin ETF would join over 60 U.S. funds related to bitcoin.

– On one hand, this is quite uncharted territory and a significant endorsement of bitcoin from Trump’s company. But on the other hand, it is a routine filing in a very crowded category, and they will have to work to attract flows and liquidity – said senior ETF analyst at Bloomberg Intelligence, Eric Balchunas.

Critics have expressed concerns about potential conflicts of interest, given Trump’s dual role in shaping crypto policy while potentially benefiting financially from related businesses.

However, the White House has stated that Trump is separated from the companies bearing his name, having transferred his shares in Trump Media to a trust controlled by his son.

Popularity of Bitcoin ETFs

U.S. bitcoin ETFs have been exceptionally successful since their launch 18 months ago, recording a cumulative net inflow of $44.4 billion to date.

Balchunas emphasized that BlackRock’s IBIT ETF, the industry leader, is by far the youngest to enter the top 25 funds.

– It’s like a child hanging out with teenagers and twenty-somethings – he stated.

The analyst also predicted that BlackRock’s fund is likely to surpass Satoshi Nakamoto as the world’s largest bitcoin holder by the end of next year.

Eleven spot ETFs in the U.S. were on track to reverse a three-day outflow with an inflow of $375 million on June 3, according to preliminary data.
