Entrepreneurs from Zagreb with a consolidated net profit of 5.6 billion euros

Just over 52,700 entrepreneurs based in the City of Zagreb achieved a consolidated net profit of 5.6 billion euros last year, representing a growth of 38.4 percent compared to the previous year, according to an analysis by the Financial Agency (Fina).

The City of Zagreb ranks first compared to other counties in terms of total revenues, reported net profit, number of entrepreneurs, number of employees, productivity measured by the ratio of total revenues to the number of employees, and productivity measured by the ratio of net profit to the number of employees among entrepreneurs.

According to the analysis, in the City of Zagreb in 2024, based on the number of processed annual financial reports, there were 52,718 entrepreneurs. These entrepreneurs generated total revenues of 83.9 billion euros, which is 6.2 percent higher compared to 2023, while their total expenses increased by 4.4 percent to 77.3 billion euros. Entrepreneurs in the City of Zagreb achieved a period profit of 6.5 billion euros last year, which is a growth of 19 percent compared to 2023, while their period loss decreased by 34.9 percent to 943.4 million euros.

Thus, entrepreneurs based in the City of Zagreb achieved a consolidated net profit of 5.6 billion euros last year, which is an annual increase of 38.4 percent.

Gross investments by Zagreb entrepreneurs in new fixed assets decreased by 3.3 percent compared to 2023, amounting to 2.6 billion euros. Imports increased by 7.5 percent to 18.9 billion euros, while exports rose by three percent to 14.5 billion euros. Consequently, the trade deficit amounted to 4.4 billion euros.

In the City of Zagreb, there were 394,760 employees last year, an increase of 13,456 employees or 3.5 percent compared to the previous year, 2023.

The average monthly net salary calculated for employees of entrepreneurs in the City of Zagreb last year was 1,323 euros, which is 13.6 percent higher than the previous year (1,165 euros). This is also 13 percent higher than the calculated average monthly net salary for employees at the national level (1,171 euros).

By revenue, the most successful is Ina

According to total revenues achieved in the City of Zagreb in 2024, the most successful was Ina with total revenue of 3.8 billion euros.

According to Fina data, Ina had 2,876 employees last year, and the average monthly net salary for employees was 1,839 euros, which is 39 percent higher than the average monthly net salary calculated for entrepreneurs in the City of Zagreb (1,323 euros) and 57 percent higher than the average monthly net salary calculated for employees at the national level (1,171 euros).

In second place by total revenue is HEP with 2.7 billion euros, and in third place is Konzum plus with just over two billion euros.

Fina states that the “top 10” entrepreneurs in the City of Zagreb, with 31,006 employees ranked by total revenues, achieved total revenues of 15.5 billion euros and a net profit of 846.2 million euros in 2024.

Their share in the total revenues of entrepreneurs in the City of Zagreb in 2024 was 20 percent, in the number of employees 7.9 percent, and 15.2 percent in net profit, as stated in the analysis.

In the past five years, Zagreb entrepreneurs increased net profit by 244.2 percent

Presenting the basic financial results of entrepreneurs based in the City of Zagreb from 2020 to 2024, Fina emphasizes that during this period, the number of entrepreneurs increased by 13.7 percent, the number of employees by seven percent, total revenues by 71.4 percent, total expenses by 64.7 percent, net profit by 244.2 percent, and the average monthly net salary increased by 44.4 percent.

Entrepreneurs in the City of Zagreb achieved the highest total revenues (83.9 billion euros), the highest net profit (5.6 billion euros), the highest average monthly net salary of 1,323 euros, and employed the largest number of workers (394,760) in 2024, as stated in the analysis.

Throughout the observed period, the number of entrepreneurs grew from the lowest in 2020 (46,347) to the highest in 2024 (52,718).

The average monthly net salary calculated for employees during the observed period increased by 407 euros or 44.4 percent, ranging from the lowest of 916 euros calculated in 2020 to the highest of 1,323 euros calculated in 2024.
