The head of Spar in Croatia Helmut Fenzl, is stepping down from his position as CEO and leaving the company after 20 years of leadership, Spar announced today. Under his leadership, they claim, Spar has developed into one of the largest companies in the country, achieving nearly 1.2 billion euros in revenue in 2024 and firmly holding third place among retail chains in Croatia.
Since the opening of the first Interspar hypermarket in June 2005 in Zadar, the company’s sales network has grown over 20 years, now boasting 143 stores and employing more than 5,200 staff.
– After 20 years at the helm of a company that has developed into one of the largest in the Croatian market, the moment has come for me to hand over the management of the company to others, so I am stepping down from the Board. I am proud of everything we have achieved, but above all of the great team I had the honor to shape within Spar Croatia. It is precisely thanks to these people that I look to the future of Spar in Croatia with full confidence and great optimism – stated Fenzl.
