Bitcoin Trading Volume Soars as Price Reaches New Heights

The trading volume of bitcoin in the spot and futures markets has surged in the last two days since the largest cryptocurrency reached new peaks.

The spot trading volume reached its highest two-day total in nearly two months, $150 billion, according to cryptocurrency market data provider CoinMarketCap. Meanwhile, the futures trading volume on Wednesday jumped to over $203 billion, marking the third highest daily total in 2025, according to CoinGlass.

A possible reason for the rise above the previous peak is that investors are encouraged by positive macroeconomic signs, as well as being convinced of bitcoin’s status as a potential hedge against possible depreciation of the US dollar. US President Donald Trump has restrained his global trade war, and the latest inflation readings have been favorable.

CoinGlass data does not include inflows into US spot bitcoin ETFs, which received over $1.6 billion in inflows from investors this week, according to data from Farside Investors.

In just 10 days this year, over $75 billion has been recorded in single-day spot volume. CoinGlass shows that the only days when bitcoin futures volume was higher so far this year were April 7 and January 20, when they amounted to $229.7 billion and $222.9 billion, respectively.

The record rise in bitcoin also comes with an increase in demand for bitcoin ETFs and as publicly traded companies, including Strategy and Metaplanet, have continued their recent surge in bitcoin purchases. Strategy, formerly MicroStrategy, now holds approximately 576,000 bitcoins in its treasury, worth over $64.5 billion at current prices.
