The value of Croatian goods exports reached 6.1 billion euros in the first three months of this year, which is 8.6 percent higher than in the same period last year, while imports increased by 7.6 percent to 10.7 billion euros, according to preliminary data from the Croatian Bureau of Statistics (DZS).
The foreign trade deficit amounted to 4.6 billion euros, while the coverage of imports by exports was 57.1 percent.
According to DZS data published on Friday, goods worth slightly more than four billion euros were exported to EU member states in the first three months of this year, which is an increase of eight percent compared to the same period last year, while exports to non-EU countries rose by 9.8 percent to 2.1 billion euros.
Imports from EU member states increased by 2.5 percent year-on-year in the first three months of this year, reaching 8.2 billion euros, while imports from non-member countries amounted to 2.5 billion euros, representing a growth of 28.5 percent.
On Friday, DZS also published preliminary data on trade for the first two months of this year.
Total exports amounted to nearly four billion euros, which is ten percent higher than in the same period last year, while imports also increased by ten percent to 6.9 billion euros.
Thus, the foreign trade deficit was 2.9 billion euros, while the coverage of imports by exports was 57.5 percent.
