Regulation, AI and Generational Challenges Focus at the 4th Alert Conference

The fourth edition of Alert conference on cybersecurity will take place on May 15 in Zagreb and will once again bring together renowned experts, representatives of companies and institutions from Croatia and abroad. The conference is organized this year by the IT company ASEE, with the support of partners VISA and Darwinium.

As one of the key regional platforms for the exchange of knowledge and experiences in the field of cybersecurity, Alert will present current threats, technological trends, and challenges faced by all sectors—from finance to critical infrastructure—through panels and lectures. This year’s program focuses on three thematic pillars: new and existing regulatory requirements (especially NIS2 and DORA), the role of artificial intelligence in cybersecurity, and generational changes in the approach to security practices. Participants will analyze the impact of regulations on business and industry, discuss the psychological and operational aspects of their implementation, as well as the readiness of systems for technologies such as quantum-safe cryptography. Special attention is given to artificial intelligence—both its application in protective mechanisms and the risks it poses in the context of abuse and autonomous systems. The third key focus is on the security awareness of new generations and the challenges posed by phenomena such as “brainrot” and changes in the perception of security.

At the conference, speakers such as Roshan Sherifudeen (RPC), Martina Dragičević (A1 Hrvatska), Katarzyna Pawlowicz and Diane Gontar (VISA), Mario Kozina (Hrvatska narodna banka), Ed Whitehead (Darwinium), Milan Parat (Hrvatska udruga banaka), Özben Miçooğulları (Microsoft), Tomislav Vazdar (Riskoria), and Davor Aničić (Velebit AI) will share their knowledge through lectures and panel discussions, along with several other names that will be confirmed soon. Additionally, experts from ASEE will share their experiences from working with the most security-demanding and regulated sectors this year.

– In a time of global realignments of zones of influence and armed conflicts on various continents, the fact that, thanks to the internet, digital data is available to attackers in just a few seconds, regardless of the physical distance from the server, which can be up to 20,000 kilometers, further emphasizes the challenges for cybersecurity experts. When we add the fact that hackers also leverage the advantages of artificial intelligence and find new ways to attack and manipulate consumers of digital services almost daily, and that new generations of users are becoming increasingly demanding and unpredictable, the response to maintaining trust in the digital society transcends technology and becomes a multidisciplinary topic that requires collaboration among experts of various profiles. The Alert conference is precisely such a meeting place for knowledge, experience, and new ideas from different experts. At the conference, we discuss the challenges that surround us or await us in the near future, but we also exchange quality ideas and solutions from ASEE and partners that are already applicable today – emphasized Viktor Olujić, a member of the management board of ASEE Hrvatska.
