In the first quarter of this year, employers primarily sought retailers, waiters, warehouse workers, and chefs, according to data from the MojPosao portal. More than half of the job advertisements published in the first quarter on this portal were related to work in Zagreb, and the most sought-after workers in Croatia are salespeople, waiters, warehouse workers, and chefs, as shown by an analysis conducted by Alma Career Croatia, which manages the MojPosao portal.
This analysis indicates that at the beginning of 2025, nearly 18,000 job advertisements were published on the MojPosao portal. Compared to last year, this is a decrease of one thousand. More than half a million applications from interested candidates were received for these advertisements. There is a significant increase in the number of advertisements in certain categories, with the largest growth in education and science (+57 percent), healthcare and social work (+34 percent), and security and protection (+10 percent).
The increase in advertisements in the field of security and protection is largely a result of the increased demand for security personnel in schools. On the other hand, there is a noticeable decline in demand for workers in design and arts (-34 percent), manufacturing and craft services (-17 percent), and agriculture, forestry, and fishing (-16 percent).
The decline in the number of published job advertisements is also present in marketing, PR, and media (-14 percent), tourism and hospitality (-12 percent), and installations, maintenance, and repairs (-11 percent). In sales, the demand for workers has decreased by six percent.
The majority of advertisements pertain to Zagreb
Slightly more than half of all published job advertisements (52 percent), as before, were related to employment in Zagreb and the Zagreb County. The coastal counties follow in terms of the number of published advertisements, with Split-Dalmatia County accounting for 15 percent, Primorje-Gorski Kotar County 13 percent, and Istria County 10 percent. Additionally, 2.1 percent of advertisements were for jobs abroad.
At the beginning of 2025, advertisements for indefinite employment still represent the majority of advertisements on MojPosao, with their share remaining at 79 percent, as it was last year. On the other hand, 42 percent of advertisements offered fixed-term jobs, while 7 percent were aimed at seasonal workers.
Only two percent of advertisements offered student jobs. Employers in the majority of advertisements set secondary vocational education as a key requirement for a successful application, as it was emphasized in 54 percent of the advertisements that secondary vocational education is necessary for the position.
