Croatian IT company Syntio, specializing in cloud data engineering, will merge with the British company Datatonic, which focuses on artificial intelligence (AI), and together they will form the Datatonic Group to work on comprehensive AI solutions, Syntio announced on Friday.

While not specifying when the merger will take place, Syntio emphasizes that their Davorin Cetto and Tomislav Domanovac will remain with the company and continue to actively participate in its management, ensuring continuity of the vision that has been the foundation of the domestic IT company’s success thus far.

– Joining forces with Datatonic at this stage of AI and data engineering development represents an exciting opportunity for Syntio. The breadth of offerings, geographical coverage, and our combined expertise mean that our clients now have the best technological options as they step into a future based on cloud data and artificial intelligence – emphasized Davorin Cetto, CEO of Syntio.

The company was founded in 2017 in Zagreb with the aim of connecting data engineering and cloud technologies, and currently has around 90 engineers and AI specialists, primarily collaborating with clients from Scandinavia and the rest of Northern Europe, including large companies such as IKEA, H&M, Volvo, Abbott, and AstraZeneca. Their services are also utilized by some domestic companies, such as HT and Valamar, and they note that due to continuous growth, they have been on the Financial Times list of the 1,000 fastest-growing European companies for three consecutive years.

Datatonic was founded in 2013, headquartered in London, and is one of the leading Google Cloud partners with numerous awards, primarily operating in the markets of the United Kingdom, DACH (Germany, Austria, Switzerland), as well as Scandinavia and North America. It specializes in cloud data, analytics, and AI, which, it is added, aligns well with Syntio’s expertise in cloud data engineering.

Datatonic is also pleased with the merger, with CEO Scott Eivers stating that it is a crucial step in their strategy to expand global presence and enhance services.

– The talented team at Syntio and their expertise are invaluable as we continue to deliver innovative solutions in the field of data and artificial intelligence – said Eivers.

The long-term goal of the merger is to become a global leading Google partner for GenAI and Agentic AI and a leading GenAI company in Europe, with expectations for business growth and the hiring of local experts in data technologies, Syntio announced.
