According to the latest data from the Financial Agency (Fina), in 2023, publishers in Croatia achieved a consolidated net profit of 11.2 million euros, which is nearly 28 percent less than the previous year, with revenues of 333 million euros.
Based on data from processed annual financial reports, in the field of book publishing, periodical publications, and other publishing activities, 631 entrepreneurs operated in that year with 3,831 employees, which represents a decrease in the number of employees by 63 or 1.6 percent compared to the previous year.
These entrepreneurs generated 332.8 million euros in total revenue, which is almost three percent more than in 2022, while their expenses simultaneously increased by 4.2 percent, to 317.7 million euros. The consolidated financial result in this sector was positive, amounting to 11.2 million euros, which is 27.6 percent less compared to 15.4 million euros in net profit in 2022.
Of the 631, 426 operated positively, achieving a net profit for the period of 24.8 million euros or 28.4 percent more. At the same time, 205 recorded a loss for the period of 13.8 million euros, which is an increase of 247 percent compared to the previous year.
