Tomorrow, on Good Friday, payments between accounts held at different banks will not be possible, while transactions between accounts within the same bank, as well as card payments and cash withdrawals at ATMs, will function normally, announced HUB.
– On Good Friday, April 18, payments between accounts held at different banks, that is, interbank payments where the payer holds an account in one bank and the payment recipient in another bank, will not be possible. Transactions between accounts within the same bank, as well as card payments and cash withdrawals at ATMs will function normally – states the announcement on the website of the Croatian Banking Association (HUB).
Interbank national orders submitted tomorrow will be received, but execution will only take place on April 22, Tuesday, considering that Monday is the holiday of Easter Monday. For clients whose bank provides instant payment services, HUB adds, it will be possible to execute instant payments between accounts held at banks that are participants in the EuroNKSInst payment system, which operates 24 hours a day, seven days a week, 365 days a year.
As noted by the banking association, since January 2023, with the introduction of the euro as the official currency in Croatia, all interbank payments in euros are executed and settled in the TARGET payment system of the European Central Bank, specifically in the TARGET-HR component of the TARGET system managed by the Croatian National Bank.
The TARGET-HR payment system is open for conducting payments every working day in accordance with the decision on the operational rules of the TARGET system, and is closed on January 1 (New Year), Good Friday, Easter Monday, May 1 (Labor Day), December 25 (Christmas), and December 26.
