According to the Labor Force Survey conducted by the Croatian Bureau of Statistics (DZS), in 2024, there were 1.68 million employed individuals in the Republic of Croatia, which represents an increase of 64 thousand or 3.9 percent compared to 2023.
In the same observed period, there were 89 thousand unemployed, a decrease of 16 thousand or 15.5 percent compared to 2023.
In 2024, the employment rate for individuals aged 15 to 64 was 68.3 percent, an increase of 2.5 percentage points compared to 2023.
The survey unemployment rate for individuals aged 15 to 64 was 5.1 percent, which is 1.1 percentage points lower than the previous year.

A comparison of unemployment data obtained from the Labor Force Survey with data from the Croatian Employment Service (HZZ) and other statistical monitoring based on administrative sources shows that the average unemployment rate in 2024, according to administrative records, was higher (5.3 percent) than the survey unemployment rate.
During this period, the average number of unemployed according to the survey was six thousand lower compared to HZZ data.
Since the surveyed individuals reported their registration with employment services, the comparison of data shows that, out of a total of 89 thousand unemployed according to the survey, 62 thousand or 69.1 percent were registered with the employment service, while the remaining 30.9 percent of survey unemployed were not interested in registration.
Of the 95 thousand registered with the Croatian Employment Service, 34 thousand or 35.3 percent did not meet international unemployment criteria.
