Cemex Croatia proudly acquired the Employer Partner certificate, a prestigious recognition awarded by SELECTIO Group, the leading HR consulting group in the region, for 19 years with the mission of promoting high-quality HR systems. This recognition aligns with the company’s sustainable business development strategy and emphasizes the importance of investing in the development of working conditions necessary to foster business success.
– For us, the past two years have been marked by a growth in the number of employees by about 13%, so we are pleased that our efforts in attracting new employees have been recognized through an increased score in the audit. We still manage to fill all open positions with local workers, all while maintaining a voluntary turnover rate of about 2%. The circumstances in the labor market and rising living costs require employers to continuously adapt to the changed expectations and needs of employees, and the results show that we are keeping pace with these demands – said Mirela Kotarac, a member of the Management Board and Director of Human Resources at Cemex Croatia.
Employee development as a strategic priority
At Cemex, employee development is not just an initiative, but a strategic priority. Development is carried out based on defined development plans that are regularly reviewed and adjusted to the needs of employees and the organization. Through the Cemex Academy, employees have access to training in the areas of safety, mental and physical health, sustainability, digital skills, and leadership. The Academy is enriched each year with new programs, including those focused on artificial intelligence and inclusive leadership.
To encourage knowledge sharing, Cemex has also introduced a Reward Program for training colleagues that motivates employees to take on the role of mentors and share their knowledge and skills. The company also provides flexibility in choosing training through the Training Catalog, which allows employees to select programs that best match their personal interests and business goals. As part of the internal knowledge exchange, there are currently as many as 94 internal trainers and mentors.
Career development at Cemex is not limited to hierarchical advancement. Employees have the opportunity for horizontal, lateral, and cross-functional transitions, allowing them to broaden their skills and gain new experiences in various business areas. As recognition for their contributions and dedication, all employees receive raises and bonuses, and they have access to as many as 30 different material and non-material benefits.
