HONOR Transforms into a Global AI Device Ecosystem Company

HONOR ALPHA PLAN is a new corporate strategy of the global technology brand HONOR aimed at transforming the company from a smartphone manufacturer into a leading global AI device ecosystem company. The plan will be implemented in three phases, and HONOR has invited industry partners to collaboratively create an open ecosystem based on value sharing, which maximizes human potential and serves every user around the world.

– It is clear that the AI revolution will reshape the device industry paradigm – completely transforming our productivity, society, and even culture more than ever before. I urge everyone to unite in addressing the challenges – as well as the numerous opportunities – that AI technology brings, – stated James Li, CEO of HONOR.

Three Phases of the HONOR ALPHA PLAN

HONOR ALPHA PLAN will be implemented in three phases, with the first beginning with the development of an intelligent phone. HONOR will collaborate with partners to open technological boundaries and jointly create a new framework for leading technology for the AI Agent era. In the second phase, HONOR will expand the boundaries of the industry and, together with partners, create a new paradigm for the AI ecosystem in the era of physical artificial intelligence. Finally, in the AGI era (the era of general artificial intelligence), HONOR will expand the boundaries of human potential and participate in creating a new way for users to access artificial intelligence and device technology.

The central part of the first phase is represented by the intelligent phone, which will include human-centered artificial intelligence designed to maximize human potential, including cutting-edge AI technology.

The world’s first personal mobile assistant (AI agent) based on a graphical user interface (GUI), developed by HONOR, redefines everyday practicality thanks to intelligent technology. In a technological demonstration in collaboration with Google Cloud and Qualcomm Technologies, HONOR showcased how the AI agent can book a table at a restaurant through third-party services, taking into account commitments saved in the calendar and real-time traffic information. HONOR plans to bring personal mobile assistant experiences to its devices in international markets in the near future.

HONOR will also transform mobile photography with AiMAGE, a new brand for HONOR’s image processing technology. AiMAGE is powered by AI Kernel, the first industry technology that supports device and cloud-based AI models. Locally, the device-based AI model uses a model with 1.3 billion parameters, providing a 50% increase in image clarity. On the other hand, the cloud-based model utilizes more extensive computing resources, thus powering a model with 12.4 billion parameters, significantly improving the quality of telephoto shots.

An equally important component of the AiMAGE system is the AI ecosystem. In collaboration with partners, including Google Cloud, HONOR continues to enhance shooting capabilities by integrating intuitive AI features into its smartphones. The new AI Upscale feature for restoring old portraits will gradually be available in the HONOR Magic7 series, powered by Snapdragon® 8 Elite Mobile Platform, starting in March.

HONOR has also introduced the world’s first file-sharing technology across the ecosystem, enabling users to perform ultra-fast file transfers between iOS and Android devices. Additionally, HONOR announced that AI Deepfake content detection will soon arrive on the latest flagship and foldable phones in international markets.

Collaborative Creation of an Open Ecosystem with Global Partners

– As we enter the era of physical artificial intelligence, we must expand the boundaries of the industry and jointly shape a new standard for the AI ecosystem, – said HONOR CEO James Li.

To achieve the second step of its strategic plan, HONOR has invited industry partners to open their AI capabilities to a broader range of devices, enabling seamless collaboration and the creation of an ecosystem based on value sharing. As proof of its commitment, HONOR will invest over $10 billion over the next five years to support this endeavor.

To further emphasize the user-centric approach within the HONOR ALPHA PLAN, HONOR has committed to providing seven years of Android OS updates and security upgrades for its HONOR Magic series, starting from the European Union market. Extended support not only prolongs the device’s lifespan and reduces e-waste in line with sustainability standards but also ensures that users enjoy safe, high-performance devices with the latest AI technology throughout the entire extended lifecycle. Users of the HONOR Magic7 Pro model in the European Union will be the first to experience the benefits of this extended support. In the future, HONOR plans to offer this extended support to other premium smartphone models, including classic and foldable phones.

HONOR has also announced plans to achieve carbon neutrality in its operations by 2040, five years ahead of the original target, as well as complete neutrality in its supply chain by 2050.
