For the eighth package of measures to assist citizens and the economy, 296 million euros

The state will allocate 296 million euros for the eighth package of measures to protect the standard of citizens and the competitiveness of the economy, said Prime Minister Andrej Plenković at a government session.

The total value of the package amounts to 296.2 million euros and includes a range of targeted measures expected to impact household budgets, the operations of small businesses, public and non-profit institutions, students, pensioners, veterans, and farmers.

For affordable energy, 140 million euros is allocated. Existing measures are extended until September 30 of this year, ensuring unchanged electricity prices for households, as well as for micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises with semi-annual consumption of up to 250 thousand kilowatt-hours, stable prices for gas and thermal energy for citizens and public institutions such as kindergartens, schools, hospitals, nursing homes, and others, said Plenković.

Support for pensioners from the ‘eighth package’ is worth 62.5 million euros. All pensioners and users of the national allowance who were eligible for payment in February 2025 will receive a one-time payment of 50 euros. This applies to more than 1.2 million users. The payment will be made no later than the end of April. This is the eleventh aid package for pensioners in the last four years, bringing the total value of support to 773.5 million euros.

Most vulnerable users

For 105 thousand socially vulnerable users, monthly allowances for energy costs of 70 euros are secured from April to September. For this, 62.2 million euros is allocated.

For about 15 thousand unemployed Croatian veterans, a one-time support of 100 euros is provided as assistance in alleviating the rising cost of living. The total amount of compensation is 1.5 million euros.

Support for public transport is valued at ten million euros, subsidizing 0.16 euros per liter of diesel for transporters. The idea is to protect passengers from potential ticket price increases and to enable the maintenance of routes that are less profitable but essential for the life of local communities.

For support of the spring sowing, 20 million euros is allocated. This is intended for farmers to co-finance production costs such as seeds, fertilizers, and fuel.

Support for students continues, with 4.5 million euros allocated to student centers, preventing the rise in prices of student meals. The price of meals remains unchanged for 111 thousand students in 25 cities at 0.86 euros.

– This is a comprehensive and targeted package that helps everyone in need at this moment and ensures the continuity of measures to build a safety net for preserving social cohesion, predictability, and assistance to household budgets and the competitiveness of the Croatian economy – said Prime Minister Plenković.

He particularly emphasized assistance to pensioners and those living in more difficult circumstances.

According to him, the total value of all previous government aid packages for citizens and the economy is 8.3 billion euros.
