Luka Modrić Becomes Co-Owner of a Domestic Craft Brewery from Bjelovar

The captain of the Croatian national football team and star of Real Madrid, Luka Modrić, has decided to expand his business horizons by entering the world of craft brewing, and not just anywhere, but in the heart of Bilogora, reports the portal klikni.hr.

According to unofficial but reliable information, the famous midfielder will become a co-owner of the well-known Bjelovar craft brewery Zeppelin, which was also confirmed by the mayor of Bjelovar, Dario Hrebak, on his Facebook profile.

Zeppelin Craft Brewery is known for producing top-quality unpasteurized and unfiltered craft beers that regularly receive the highest quality ratings and are in demand throughout Beautiful Croatia. The brewery is backed by founder Daniel Babić, director Ivan Babić, and Zoran Dujmić.

This partnership represents a new step in the stellar career of the 39-year-old footballer, who will be able to enjoy craft beer production after his well-deserved retirement from football. Modrić is known as one of the most successful and respected midfielders in football history, and he is now expanding his brand beyond the sports field.

There is speculation that the brewery may soon launch a special beer inspired by the footballer whose name is known on all continents.

In 2023, the total revenue of Zeppelin craft brewery was €606.4 thousand, which is an increase of 49 percent compared to the previous year. The net profit achieved in 2023 was €90.7 thousand.

After Badelj, Modrić

Luka Modrić is not the first domestic footballer to enter the world of beer. Before him, Milan Badelj did so, who is one of the shareholders of the Zagreb microbrewery The Garden Brewery. In mid-last year, Badelj reduced his stake in the brewery and sold 2836 regular shares of the microbrewery to the company’s co-founders Nicholas Colgan and David Andrew Plant on June 14 of last year.

This reduced the total number of Badelj’s securities from 22,198 to 16,526, and the total number of votes from 27.47 percent to 20.45 percent, thus falling below the threshold of 25 percent voting rights in The Garden Brewery, as reported by the ZSE at that time.
