In 2023, the furniture retail sector achieved a net profit of €43.6 million, representing a growth of 35.8 percent compared to the previous year, according to an analysis by the Financial Agency (Fine).
According to data from processed annual financial reports for statistical and other purposes in 2023, there were 235 entrepreneurs in the furniture retail sector employing 3,122 people. The number of employees increased by 4.9 percent compared to the previous year.
Entrepreneurs in the furniture retail sector generated total revenues of €651 million in 2023, which is 18.9 percent higher than in the previous year. Their total expenses increased by 18 percent to €601 million.
A profit of €44.8 million was achieved, with a loss of €1.2 million for the period, resulting in a total net profit of €43.6 million.
Entrepreneurs in the furniture retail sector exported goods worth €25.2 million in 2023, marking an increase of 8.9 percent compared to 2022. Their imports rose by 8.4 percent to €209.4 million.
The average monthly net salary calculated for employees in the furniture retail sector in 2023 was €1,259, which is 16.5 percent higher than in 2022 and 22.5 percent higher than the average salary of employees in the Republic of Croatia (€1,028).
The analysis by Fine indicated that Lesnina Hrvatska achieved the highest total revenues in 2023, amounting to €183.3 million. Ikea Hrvatska ranked second with €162.3 million, followed by Jysk with €122.5 million.
The highest profit of the period, amounting to €15.2 million, was reported by Jysk, while Lesnina Hrvatska ranked second with a profit of €9.7 million.
Out of 235 entrepreneurs in the furniture retail sector in 2023, 189 were micro, 40 small, three medium-sized, and three large entrepreneurs, as stated in the analysis by Fine.
