Alexander Giegerich from ATRON Group presented the best practice example ‘Smart Cities‘ at the conference . ID-/Account-based Ticketing refers to Account-Based Ticketing (ABT), also known as ID-based ticketing. It is a modern transportation payment system in which passenger rights are linked to their user account, rather than to a physical ticket or card.
Giegerich explains that cashless payments have long been a sort of standard in all areas of life. He emphasizes that this system is globally accepted, characterized by high security standards, and that users do not need any prior knowledge to use it successfully.

Digital Zagreb
At today’s leaders’ conference, the best practice example ‘Digital Zagreb‘ was also presented by the Mayor of Zagreb Tomislav Tomašević through an overview of the digital services published so far in Zagreb and the announcement of upcoming projects.
– The introduction of new digital solutions in a city the size of Zagreb presents numerous challenges. Through examples such as e-scholarships, the Moj ZET app, and Razvrstaj MojZg, the central payroll processing system, etc., we demonstrate the vision of modern administration at the service of citizens, a city that compensates for technological lag but also innovates – said Tomašević.
Effective, transparent, and smart governance is essential. He believes that establishing a treasury, ensuring transparency of all banking transactions and the city, upgrading the open data portal, supporting the use of open data, as well as including e-Consultation, Participatory budgeting, and the anti-corruption platform ZG Whistleblower are important.
Tomašević states that smart management of energy and utility services is also one of the key aspects of a modern city, and for this, it is necessary to manage energy consumption in public buildings and have a Central Integrated Information System for the management and maintenance of the City of Zagreb’s facilities.
He also mentioned ‘paperless administration’, which aims for a 50 percent increase in digitally signed documents. He touched on education as well. Specifically, air quality sensors have been introduced in schools and e-scholarships. Regarding the economy, an online system for tree planting applications, a new 3D model of the city, the Energy Info Atlas, and a statistical portal about the City of Zagreb are available.
He also mentions the Razvrstaj MojZG app, the e-Redar system, a web application for reporting damage, and the ZG Smart City Hub platform. For digital infrastructure, the LoraWan network, the renewed free municipal WiFi network, and the new data center are important. Additionally, Tomašević highlighted sustainable urban mobility as a key item. He mentioned automatic traffic management, the Moj ZET app, and temporary traffic regulations.
