According to data from the Moj Posao portal, the most sought-after professions are salesperson, waiter, warehouse worker, cook, production worker, and driver.
An analysis of the labor market in Croatia, conducted by Alma Career Croatia, which manages the MojPosao portal, reveals that during 2024, more than 324,000 job advertisements were published, representing a slight decrease of 1.5 percent compared to the previous year.
When considering unique advertisements, or job postings published on multiple platforms but counted as a single unit in statistical analysis, it is found that during 2024, 251,000 unique advertisements were published, which is 0.2 percent less than in 2023.
However, to gain a comprehensive picture, it is essential to consider a key factor – the continued growth of employment of foreign workers, which is increasingly occurring through alternative channels rather than exclusively through standard job advertisements, as stated in the announcement. Thus, the actual demand for workers is greater than what statistical data suggests and could potentially be higher than 1.7 percent.
When discussing job postings published on the MojPosao portal, a significant increase in the number of advertisements in certain categories is noticeable. The largest increase is evident in the sectors of law (41 percent increase compared to 2023), banking (25 percent increase), human resources (25 percent increase), architecture (16 percent increase), and pharmaceuticals and biotechnology (15 percent increase).
On the other hand, the largest decline is recorded in IT and telecommunications (17 percent), agriculture, forestry, and fishing (13 percent), beauty care and sports (12 percent), and security and protection (12 percent). A decline in the number of published job postings is also present in the tourism and hospitality sector (5 percent), as well as in the construction, geodesy, and geology sector (10 percent).
In the sales category, which is among the most numerous in terms of total advertisements, a slight increase in demand for workers was recorded (1.5 percent).
The Most Advertisements Relate to Zagreb
The analysis showed that just over half of all published job advertisements (53 percent) related to employment in Zagreb and the Zagreb County.
Following is the Split-Dalmatia County with 15 percent, the Primorje-Gorski Kotar County with 13 percent, and the Istria County with 10 percent. Additionally, 2.7 percent of advertisements related to job positions abroad.
In 2024, as much as 81 percent of published job positions were related to permanent employment contracts. Last year, employers offered permanent jobs in 79 percent of contracts. On the other hand, 45 percent of advertisements offered fixed-term jobs, while five percent were aimed at seasonal workers. Only two percent of advertisements offered student jobs.
Employers in the majority of advertisements set secondary education as a key requirement for a successful application, as 55 percent of postings emphasized that secondary education is necessary for the position.
