The value of Croatian goods exports reached 1.9 billion euros in January, which is 9 percent higher than in the same month last year, while imports increased by 9.6 percent to 3.3 billion euros, according to preliminary data from the Croatian Bureau of Statistics (DZS).
At the same time, the trade deficit amounted to 1.4 billion euros, while the coverage of imports by exports was 58.1 percent.
According to DZS data published on Tuesday, goods worth 1.26 billion euros were exported to EU member states in January, which is 7.3 percent higher compared to the same month last year, while exports to non-EU countries increased by 12.5 percent to nearly 629 million euros. Imports from EU member states rose by 0.4 percent year-on-year in January to 2.45 billion euros, while imports from non-member countries amounted to 807 million euros, which is 51.5 percent higher than in January last year.
On Tuesday, DZS also published preliminary data on trade exchange for 2024. Total exports amounted to 24 billion euros, which is 4.8 percent higher than the previous year, while imports increased by 5.8 percent to 41.9 billion euros.
Thus, the trade deficit amounted to 17.9 billion euros, while the coverage of imports by exports was 57.3 percent.
