See What Croatians Order the Most for International Women’s Day

International Women’s Day is one of the most important days of the year when it comes to flower orders in Croatia. According to data from Glovo, a platform for the delivery of various products and meals on demand, this day accounts for 15 percent of the total annual flower sales through the platform.

The most sought-after flowers are roses and tulips, with the highest number of orders recorded in Zagreb, Split, and Varaždin. Interestingly, one-third of all flower orders are made in the morning hours, and February and March are the months when Croatians buy the most flowers, accounting for over 40 percent of total annual consumption.

In addition to flowers, International Women’s Day is unimaginable without sweet treats. The most popular desserts ordered by users through Glovo are donuts, especially those filled with chocolate, vanilla, and jam, followed by apple pie and pancakes, both classic and mini versions with Nutella.

Besides flowers and sweets, there is also a significant increase in orders for Asian cuisine on this day. In Croatia, nearly double the amount of sushi is ordered on International Women’s Day compared to usual, with peak orders occurring during lunch, when as much as 30 percent of Asian dishes are ordered. The highest number of orders for Asian food comes from Zagreb, Osijek, and Split, with the most sought-after dishes being wok specialties such as Samurai Wok, Chicken Wok, and Teriyaki Wok, as well as spring rolls, sushi rolls like Philadelphia Roll, and Pad Thai.

Data also shows that Croatia ranks second in the region for the number of flower orders for International Women’s Day.
