A new offer of treasury bills that will include citizens is in preparation, announced Prime Minister Andrej Plenković on Friday at a government session.
These will be treasury bills with a shorter maturity period, of three months, with a yield of 2.6 percent, he said.
This is the eighth issuance of treasury bills open to citizens, along with three bonds.
– It is important that we have intensified the capital market in this way and by issuing government securities – treasury bills and bonds – we have dynamized these activities – said Plenković.
So far, citizens have invested about seven and a half billion euros in government securities and sent a message of confidence, while enjoying interest rates more favorable than those in other financial institutions, said Plenković.
He also referred to yesterday’s issuance of a bond on the domestic capital market maturing in 2027 in a nominal amount of 1.75 billion euros and a bond maturing in 2030 in a nominal amount of 1.25 billion euros.
He thanked the citizens who participated with investments of about 600 million euros and thus, as he said, expressed new confidence in government bonds.
