Many entrepreneurs still reflexively look towards the West, but given the rapid disintegration of the US-EU axis and its uncertain future, it may be time to consider what the largest global economic alliance now offers. The BRICS countries control about 40 percent of the world’s GDP, a range of key raw materials and resources, and possess vast developing markets. Therefore, we have dedicated this week’s topic to these countries.

During the past year, according to SKDD data, 101 joint-stock companies paid dividends, or one in six existing ones. Of the approximately 80 companies whose shares are traded on the Zagreb Stock Exchange, between thirty and forty pay dividends each year. In total, last year, joint-stock companies paid out about 690 million euros in dividends, which is likely a record high annual amount. This year, at least so far, only five companies have paid dividends while two have only announced them, which we discuss in the current topic.
