Average producer prices of agricultural products in the fourth quarter of 2024 increased by 9.5 percent compared to the same period in 2023, according to data from the Croatian Bureau of Statistics (DZS).
Prices of plant products rose by 15.2 percent, while prices of livestock, poultry, and animal products increased by 0.3 percent. For plant products, prices increased across all groups of plant products that have the largest share in plant production. Thus, wine prices rose by 40.1 percent, fruit by 38 percent, cereals by 17.5 percent, and industrial crops by seven percent.
Vegetable prices also increased by 10.8 percent and olive oil prices by 7.1 percent.
In the group of products with the largest share in livestock production compared to the same quarter in 2023, cattle prices increased by six percent and milk prices by 1.2 percent. At the same time, poultry prices fell by 6.9 percent, and pig prices by five percent. The prices of table eggs also decreased by 0.6 percent.
Prices of goods and services for current use (input I) in the fourth quarter of this year compared to the same quarter in 2023 fell by 4.7 percent, influenced by the decline in energy, fertilizer, and animal feed prices.
Thus, energy prices fell by 11.3 percent, fertilizer prices by 5.3 percent, and animal feed prices by 4.5 percent.
Prices of seeds and planting material also decreased by 8.6 percent, as did plant protection products by 6.1 percent. At the same time, prices of veterinary services increased by 8.5 percent.
