At the end of January this year, there were blocked accounts for 199.5 thousand Croatian citizens in Croatia, with a total principal debt of 2.94 billion euros, as well as 12.6 thousand business entities whose principal debt amounted to 664.3 million euros, according to the Financial Agency (Fina).
At the end of January, the register of payment order bases recorded 199,467 consumers, which is 0.2 percent more than in the previous month, and 5.9 percent less than a year ago. It is worth noting that last month, the number of blocked consumers fell below 200 thousand for the first time in 15 years, with 199,165 blocked.
The principal of their debt at the end of January this year amounted to 2.94 billion euros, which is 0.2 percent more compared to December 2024, and 8.7 percent more compared to January 2024. When the principal of 2.94 billion euros is added to the debt from interest amounting to 1.11 billion euros, the total debt of citizens with blocked accounts at the end of January amounted to 4.05 billion euros.
The debt of consumers to banks as creditors amounted to 650 million euros (excluding interest), and to all financial institutions 730 million euros, Fina reports.
Due to unpaid payment bases, at the end of January this year, the register of payment order bases recorded 12,619 business entities, which is 58 business entities or 0.5 percent more compared to December last year and 1,110 business entities or 8.1 percent less compared to January 2024.
