Croatian Tobacco supports the planting of 5,000 oak trees through donation

Croatian Tobacco, the largest organizer of tobacco production and procurement in Croatia operating within the BAT group, continues to invest in sustainable business by planting 5,000 saplings of pedunculate oak in the area of the Virovitica Forestry, in cooperation with Croatian Forests, the Slatina Forest Administration, to compensate for the total biomass that tobacco producers, cooperatives of Croatian Tobacco, used for drying Virginia-type tobacco last year.

The new trees were planted on an area of 2.4 hectares in the Virovitica Bilogora region.

We are proud of the collaborations achieved in the local community, which confirm our shared commitment to sustainability, which is at the core of our business – explained Predrag Petrović, head of the sustainability department at Croatian Tobacco.

Such projects not only strengthen our responsibility towards nature but also pave the way for further development of sustainable solutions in agriculture and forestry – emphasized Nataša Rap, head of the ecology department at the Slatina Forest Administration.

As part of the collaboration with the Public Institution Nature Park Papuk, Croatian Tobacco has also donated funds aimed at preserving the large-flowered orchid, a strictly protected plant species, with only a few dozen individuals in the Papuk area.
