Elon Musk has become the first person to reach a net worth estimated at over $400 billion, according to Forbes and Bloomberg.
His wealth primarily consists of shares in electric vehicle manufacturer Tesla and aerospace company SpaceX. The American magazine Forbes estimated Musk’s wealth at $431.2 billion on Thursday, while the financial services company Bloomberg stated it is approximately $447 billion.
Since the presidential elections in the U.S. in early November, the 53-year-old has become significantly wealthier due to the rise in Tesla’s stock price, at least on paper. Investors speculate that Tesla will benefit from Musk’s current closeness to newly elected U.S. President Donald Trump.
Musk, born in South Africa and now a U.S. citizen, supported Trump with million-dollar donations during the election campaign and will be part of Trump’s administration.
Musk’s companies also include the online platform X, artificial intelligence developer xAI, and Neuralink, which works on brain implants.
In second place on the list is Amazon founder Jeff Bezos, with a net worth estimated at over $240 billion, reports Hina.
