(30 Under 30) Marijan Mikolić: We are negotiating a large investment that will enable us to become the standard of the gaming industry

We have been hearing for some time that the future lies in niches, but how to succeed in niche gaming is demonstrated by PlayTracker, backed by Marijan Mikolić, who originally created this solution for his own needs because he was frustrated that video games encourage achievement collection and competition among gamers, while at the same time there are barriers between platforms that minimize or eliminate interactions between someone on PlayStation and someone on Xbox.

– I wanted to have a place where all that information and friends are in one place. Initially, I sent a link to friends and acquaintances to use it as our little social network, but then I decided to post an invitation on other social networks and gaming forums for anyone who might be interested in something like that. Within a few hours, my post ended up on the front page of Reddit, and hundreds of thousands of visitors crashed my modest server. That response inspired me to continue working on PlayTracker – Mikolić told us.

This young innovator recognized an opportunity after a few years to offer interesting statistics that are otherwise impossible to obtain with the data collected on PlayTracker. Now you can see data on how many people bought a game like GTA V on multiple different platforms. This led to the analytical side of PlayTracker, which companies around the world now use for market research.

– Winning at the ZICER Startup Factory is one of my greatest successes considering the fierce competition from exceptionally impressive startups and teams that gather in that program every year. It was also a turning point where PlayTracker grew from a side project into a real company, which was a challenge because I had no experience in independent entrepreneurship. I am proud that with the help of ZICER, we managed to overcome that challenge and establish financially stable operations without having to give up a percentage of ownership under unfavorable conditions in those early stages – Mikolić says, adding that he now enjoys the daily small successes the most.

Now Mikolić enjoys when he comes across a comment recommending PlayTracker or an article on a gaming portal that quotes PlayTracker data, while at the same time still excitedly watching announcements of new games, even though it seems surreal to him to think that behind the scenes there are people working on the same game he eagerly anticipates, using his tools.

– The video game industry is constantly at the forefront of technology and development, and recently that development is increasingly leading into a future where the boundaries between platforms are blurred. Games find their users where they are – whether on PlayStation, personal computers, mobile phones, or something else. In such a market, a place is needed where gamers can socialize and compete regardless of where they play, and experts can get a more complete picture of market trends, which is why I am very confident in the bright future of PlayTracker – Mikolić notes.

At PlayTracker, exciting new functionalities are now being diligently developed in close collaboration with their users and clients, and from a strong market position, they are negotiating a large investment that will enable them to become the de facto standard for the video game industry worldwide.

– In five years, almost every gamer in the world will have a PlayTracker profile, and our analytics will be regularly cited in meeting rooms from California to Tokyo – he concludes.
