Dominik Cvetkovski is the CEO of ANIQ, a company specializing in video game development, whose journey from a young enthusiast to an entrepreneur has been shaped by his love for games and technology. His interest in video games began in childhood when he received his first computer, and his passion for gaming continued through self-exploration and game development.
– I got my first computer in the third grade of elementary school, and the fun I experienced playing games only sparked my imagination and ideas for new games – emphasizes Cvetkovski, who started his career as a 3D artist and soon transitioned to programming in Unity.
After working as a Unity instructor at PISMO Incubator, Cvetkovski opened his own gaming studio, becoming the first tenant of the incubator, which allowed him to develop the idea of creating innovative video games.
– My task was to guide the education participants into the world of game development and encourage them to start their own startups – explains Cvetkovski, adding that he focused on a practical approach to education from the very beginning.
One of his greatest successes is not tied to specific projects, but according to him, to teamwork and a shared vision.
– I have many successes behind me, and even more failures. But the greatest success is my team and their dedication – says Cvetkovski, emphasizing that team support is the key to success in entrepreneurship.
In five years… in retirement?
Although 2020 was a year of great challenges due to the pandemic, Cvetkovski learned the importance of flexibility and adaptation, which helped him retain his team and find new business opportunities.
– It was stressful, but I learned how important it is to react quickly in crisis situations – adds Cvetkovski, who continued to develop new projects despite the global situation.
Although the video game industry continues to grow, Cvetkovski sees changes coming, with a trend of decreasing large AAA studios and strengthening indie projects that bring innovation.
– Large AAA studios are proving to be increasingly unsustainable, and I believe that experienced developers from those studios will increasingly turn to indie projects – believes Cvetkovski, who predicts that indie games will become a new era of innovation in the industry. He also believes that further application of new technologies such as artificial intelligence and virtual reality will significantly shape gaming on a global level.
