In the first round of subscriptions for treasury bills, nearly 27,000 citizens contributed 911.2 million euros for treasury bills, while the achieved nominal amount of the total issuance, which includes accepted offers from institutional investors in the second round, reaches 1.2 billion euros, the Ministry of Finance announced on Tuesday.

This has realized the initially targeted nominal amount of the total issuance of treasury bills, which citizens could subscribe to and pay from November 8 to 15, while institutional investors had the opportunity to do so today.

The issuance date of the treasury bills will be November 21, and the maturity date will be November 20, 2025. The annual yield for the treasury bills contributed by citizens amounts to 3.15 percent, marking the seventh opportunity in just over a year and a half for investing in government securities, of which the fifth time in treasury bills.

According to the final issuance conditions published today, 26,692 citizens purchased 939,876 treasury bills, for which they allocated 911.2 million euros.

Moreover, treasury bills are purchased at a discount, so the minimum investment amount for one treasury bill is 969.54 euros. Thus, citizens will receive one thousand euros at maturity for one bill, meaning they will be able to earn 30.46 euros on one “treasury bill” with a maturity of 364 days.

Therefore, the achieved nominal amount of the first round of treasury bill subscriptions amounts to 939.9 million euros, and the difference from the amount contributed by citizens relates to the aforementioned discount.

Today, from 9 to 11 a.m., institutional investors could also subscribe to treasury bills in the second round, and as seen from the table published by the Ministry of Finance, the achieved nominal amount of subscriptions reached 260.1 million euros. The interest from institutional investors amounted to 1.48 billion euros, but the Ministry of Finance decided to accept offers amounting to 260 million, which is actually the difference between the targeted nominal issuance amount of 1.2 billion euros and the total nominal amount contributed by citizens.

Institutional investors will achieve a slightly lower annual yield of 2.70 percent, meaning they will be able to earn 26.21 euros on one ‘treasury bill.’
