Italian Cuisine Week at the Culinary Institute Kul IN in Sisak

Italian Cuisine Week is an event that has been held for the ninth consecutive year during the month of November worldwide, aimed at presenting and promoting the rich culinary and gastronomic tradition as an important context of Italian contemporary identity and culture.

The theme of this year’s event places a special focus on the Mediterranean, dietary way of eating and deeply rooted traditional cuisine, as a guarantee of human health, a balanced lifestyle, and overall well-being. It has been scientifically confirmed that a diet based on the Mediterranean way of preparing food prevents a whole range of so-called metabolic syndromes and diseases; diabetes, obesity, cardiovascular and tumor diseases, etc.

Furthermore, a cuisine based on the use of seasonal ingredients and local products contributes to a model of biodiversity, sustainability, and self-sufficiency in the healthy and nutritionally recognized art of food preparation.

A series of special events will mark Italian Cuisine Week in the world in Croatia from November 18 to 22.

The Italian Institute for Foreign Trade in Zagreb (ICE Agency), in collaboration with the Embassy of Italy in the Republic of Croatia, is organizing a special training program at the Culinary Institute KULIN in Sisak on November 20.

Chef Paco Zanobini from the Italian Culinary School ALMA will hold a Master Class, where he plans to prepare two typical dishes of Italian cuisine:

  • Green ravioli stuffed with pumpkin, artichoke cream, anchovy oil, and olives
  • Risotto with saffron, parsley, and lemon

After the Master Class, there will be a competition for young Croatian chefs, who will prepare the aforementioned dishes and try to win a culinary course prize at the Italian school ALMA.

Paolo Trichilo, the Ambassador of Italy to the Republic of Croatia, will greet the hosts, present dignitaries, competitors, and guests at the opening of the event in Sisak, starting at 10:30 AM on November 20, 2024.
