The value of Croatian goods exports in the first nine months of this year amounted to 17.5 billion euros, which is 3.5 percent more than in the same period last year, while imports increased by 4.7 percent, to 31.4 billion euros, according to the first data from the Croatian Bureau of Statistics (DZS) published on Friday.
The foreign trade deficit amounted to 13.9 billion euros, and the coverage of imports by exports was 55.8 percent. In the first nine months of last year, the coverage was 56.4 percent.
According to the first data from DZS, goods worth 11.5 billion euros were exported to EU member states in the first nine months of this year, which is 0.1 percent more than in the same period last year. The value of imported goods from EU member states increased by 8.3 percent, to 24.6 billion euros.
Statistics for exports to non-EU countries recorded a growth of 10.8 percent, to 5.96 billion euros, with a simultaneous decline in goods imports by 6.4 percent, to nearly 6.8 billion euros.
DZS also published other corrected data on trade exchange for the first eight months of this year, showing that exports increased by 3.6 percent compared to the same period in 2023, to 15.5 billion euros, while imports increased by 4.7 percent, to 27.98 billion euros.
According to revised data, the foreign trade deficit in the first eight months of this year amounted to 12.4 billion euros, and the coverage of imports by exports was 55.5 percent.
