The volume of construction work in August of this year, according to seasonally adjusted indices, was 17.7 percent higher than in the same month last year, while compared to July, it was one percent higher, according to preliminary data from the Croatian Bureau of Statistics (DZS) published on Monday.
The volume of work performed on buildings was 24 percent higher compared to August 2023, while on other constructions, it was 5.9 percent higher.
On a monthly basis, the volume of construction work on buildings was 0.4 percent higher, while on other constructions, it was 0.1 percent higher.
In August, 62.7 percent of working hours on construction sites were spent on new construction, while 37.3 percent were on reconstructions, repairs, and maintenance. On buildings, 56.5 percent of working hours were spent, while on other constructions, it was 43.5 percent.
Statistics based on original indices show that in the first eight months, the volume of construction work increased by 16.3 percent compared to the same period in 2023. The volume of work performed on buildings was 22.1 percent higher, while the volume of work on other constructions was 5.8 percent higher.
