As part of the project “Finance for New Generations,” organized by the Croatian Banking Association throughout the year with the support of the European Investment Bank, the ninth of thirteen planned workshops for educating young beginner entrepreneurs was held.
On Monday, September 23, they hosted renowned financial expert Hrvoje Serdarušić, a business consultant and author of the blog www.serdarusic.com. In his presentation, Serdarušić introduced three key financial statements, explaining their purpose, how to interpret them correctly, and how they interconnect information about business operations.

Through concrete examples, he demonstrated how to read financial statements correctly, what conclusions to draw based on the numbers, and how to use that information for making business decisions.
Additionally, he introduced participants to the concept of discounted cash flow, highlighting common misconceptions such as the difference between revenue and income, costs and expenses, and explained the concepts of amortization and depreciation.
At the end of the workshop, Serdarušić reminded entrepreneurs of the 10 most common mistakes in business and patiently answered their questions.
The next workshop will be held on October 7, led by renowned entrepreneur Manuela Šola, owner of the Communication Laboratory and president of the Supervisory Board of HUP. The topic of the workshop will be: “How to Build a Brand and the Future of Sustainable Business.”
