Spar Croatia today presented its new logistics center in Donja Zdenčina near Zagreb to media representatives. This is an investment of 110 million euros and the largest logistics center of this retail chain in this part of Europe. The logistics center has a capacity of one hundred thousand pallets, is equipped with more than 170 ramps, and generates over 500 jobs in the first phase, it was stated during the presentation.
The logistics center was built on a plot of 370 thousand square meters, which is well connected by major roads, public transport, and a railway line. The area of the building itself is 75 thousand square meters, which houses three halls. The first is for dry assortment, the second for chilled assortment, while the third houses offices, a restaurant, and employee spaces, as well as facilities for recycling cardboard packaging and other waste.
Spar’s logistics center in Donja Zdenčina was presented by: CEO of Spar Croatia Helmut Fenzl, members of the Management Board of Spar Croatia Danijel Vidiš and Goran Vukelić, and the Director of the Logistics Sector of Spar Croatia Jozo Rođaković.

– Spar Croatia is soon celebrating two decades of presence in the Croatian market, during which we have successfully built a network of 140 stores in more than 55 cities across our beautiful country. This strong and growing system requires an exceptionally efficient logistics apparatus, so this investment is crucial for ensuring further development and operational excellence. We are proud of our contribution not only to the local community but also to the entire Croatian economy, as through such projects we further strengthen economic stability and create new jobs – emphasized Helmut Fenzl.
– The project for the construction of the new logistics center was completed in an exceptionally ambitious timeframe of just 20 months, despite the complexity of all technical and operational systems that enable its top functionality. The location was carefully chosen due to excellent transport connectivity with the rest of Croatia, ensuring optimal distribution. Given the value of the investment and the creation of a significant number of new jobs, we believe this is one of the most important projects of its kind in Zagreb County – stated Danijel Vidiš.
– Centralizing all logistics operations at one location was a complex project that we successfully realized in collaboration with our teams and experts from the SPAR group. Thanks to our domestic partners – in design, where we collaborated with the architectural firm Sirrah from Osijek, and especially in construction where our main contractors were Kamgrad, Elektro-Cecić, and Zlaring – we completed the project in an ambitious timeframe and, above all, successfully, to the satisfaction of the SPAR Group – concluded Goran Vukelić.
