The Supervisory Board of Sardina Postira has appointed the former fishing director, Kristijan Zanki, as the company’s director. He will replace the suddenly deceased long-time director and co-owner Mislav Bezmalinović, with whom he closely collaborated, and will continue the company’s development on the foundations laid by Bezmalinović.
Kristijan Zanki graduated from the Faculty of Maritime Studies at the University of Split, belonging to the first generation of fisheries students in the Republic of Croatia. He began his career in 1997 as a graduate engineer of fishing technology, and in 1999 he also obtained a degree in maritime transport engineering with a nautical focus. Since 2000, he has been employed at Sardina d.o.o., where he has held a number of key managerial positions. His significant role within the company includes participation in launching the strategic project of tuna catch and farming in 2001. He was involved in obtaining all necessary permits for farming, including location permits and concession agreements. He actively worked on developing a recognizable Croatian tuna brand, in collaboration with scientific institutions and relevant authorities, promoting the specifics of tuna farming in Croatia.
He has made significant contributions to the project of modernizing the fishing fleet, where he was key in implementing advanced technologies and innovations. He participated in launching the Program for the Construction and Modernization of the Fishing Fleet. As a member of the project team, he worked on developing a modern tuna fishing vessel for fishing in the Mediterranean, resulting in the construction of five ships in Croatian shipyards.
